Book Club Ideas:
Below is a list of ideas that you can use to go "Above and Beyond" what is expected of you in the classroom. Read an AR book at your reading level, choose a book club idea, complete it, and then tell Mrs. Hansen that you are ready to present it to the class.
1. Write a letter to the main character, and then the character's reply. One page minimum.
2. Write a different ending to the book. One page minimum.
3. Pretend you are a talk show host and interview the main character. One page minimum.
4. Create a travel brochure for the setting of the book, scrapbook pages about main characters.
5. Create a book jacket, include pictures, a summary of book, author of book, and review the favorite part of the book.
6. Summarize the book into a comic strip.
7. Write a news article about an important event from the book. One page minimum.
8. Create and prepare a puppet show summarizing the story of the book. Act out the show for the class, or record it and show the class the video.
9. Create and prepare a television commercial about your book. Act out the commercial for your class, or record it and show the class the video.
10. Write a test of at least ten questions that could be used to test other students' understanding of the story. Make sure you include a list of answers.
11. Explain why you think this book will or will not be read 100 years from now. Support your opinion by stating specific events in the story. One page minimum.
